Questions

Before you ask, in case it helps.

The things people check first. If what you need is not here, ask us — nobody will mind the question.

Does it cost anything?
No. Talking to us — and everything we do — costs nothing. We will never ask you for money, and we do not take a cut of anything you receive.
Do I need papers or documents?
Not to talk to us. Bring whatever you already have — an ID, letters you have received, bills, school or clinic forms — and if you have none of that, come anyway. We can start without them.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes — call or message us and we'll find a time. It takes one message, and you do not need to explain yourself on the phone before you come.
What languages do you speak?
English and Punjabi in the room, and Aasra is for every community in Fresno. If you speak something else, tell us when you get in touch and we will work out how to do it properly.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes — a family member, a friend, anyone you want in the room. You do not have to do this on your own.
What happens to what I tell you?
We only ask what we need in order to help, and nothing you tell us goes anywhere else without your say-so. Our privacy page sets out the few things the law requires of us.
What if you cannot help me?
We will say so, and we will tell you who can — and introduce you ourselves where we can. You can also dial 211 any time for services across Fresno County.
Is this an emergency service?
No. For emergencies, call 911. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988. For shelter, food or utilities at any hour, dial 211.
